Quanex Building Products’ Cambridge, Ohio, facility recently achieved more than 1 million man-hours worked without a lost time injury.
“At Quanex, we’ve seen a reduction in accidents and injuries that can be attributed to a great safety culture that starts at the top with the CEO, COO and divisions presidents who are all committed to providing the safest workplace in our industry through continuous improvement,” says Richard Mack, director, environmental health and safety, Quanex Building Products.
In addition to the Cambridge facility’s 1-million-hour milestone, Quanex has realized a few other achievements in recent months, including:
- As of June 30, 2019, the total recordable incident rate and severity rate for Quanex have improved by 62 percent compared to 2012.
- Since 2016, Quanex’s North American Cabinet Division (Woodcraft Industries) has improved its total recordable incident rate by 51 percent and its severity rate by 74 percent.
- The HL Plastics division in the U.K. has consistently exhibited world-class safety performance with the best overall injury rates in Quanex Building Products.
“Not only is having a great safety record important to Quanex, but it is also important to our customers from a sustainability perspective,” Mack says. “Customers need suppliers that are dependable and that consistently have the resources available to service their needs.”
